Buyer’s Guide: Italian Shirt Deals and Matchworn Gems

As the 2019/20 season belatedly draws to a close, now is a great time to pick up some kit bargains. We’ve scoured the official online stores of every Serie A and B club to bring you the very best deals on 2019/20 shirts, including some match worn gems! (NB. all details accurate as of 12th August 2020):

Top Deals

SPAL – 19/20 home, away and third shirts have been discounted by 70% (€23.70 each) with shipping to the UK a further €20. Availability of sizes is currently pretty good, but you’ll need to move fast! If you’re taking the plunge, there is some nice-looking team and leisure wear (hoodies, jackets etc) that has been similarly discounted. Also take a look at the outlet section which has a few sizes of the 18/19 shirts available for just €20.

Serie B Empoli have reduced the price of their home and away shirts down to €35, with shipping to the UK an additional €20. I think I am right in saying that these shirts are not available anywhere else on the internet. They’re currently available in all adult sizes, though ‘sizing up’ is recommended for these slim-fitting Kappa Gara versions. For an additional €10 you can also add a Liam Henderson nameset!

Lecce produce their own kits in-house under the M908 brand. This season’s home, away and third shirts are available for €34.50, with €20 on top for UK shipping. Sizes are limited on the home shirt (Small and XL only), but they also have the option of a lower-specification replica version for €17.50. While you’re there, and to spread the cost of postage, you might also want to take a look at the 18/19 shirts on offer at €25.

Other Deals Under €40

Sampdoria – you can pick up the 19/20 Samp shirts for just €37.50 (half price). Or, if you’re feeling flush, splash out on the full spec Quagliarella version for €75. UK shipping is €20, and to help spread those costs, it’s worth a rummage in the outlet section where you can pick up 18/19 and 17/18 shirts for as little as €25 each.

Torino have slashed the price of their shirts by at least 50%, meaning you can pick up the home (€39), away or third shirt (€35) at a good price. It’s worth noting that these come with a full set of sponsors, unlike those available via UK based retailers. The availability of sizes is currently good, though postage to the UK will set you back an additional €25.

Match Worn Options…

If you’re looking to treat yourself to something a bit different, there are a couple of options for buying full specification match worn shirts:

Venezia are offering a limited number of home and goalkeeper’ shirts that were worn on the final day of the season versus Perugia for €99, plus €20 for shipping to the UK.

Serie B Trapani have a range of match worn home, away and goalkeepers shirts from the current season available. Trapani switched from Joma to Nike after the post-COVID restart, so these would be the shirts worn in the first half of the season. These are very reasonably priced in the range €35-50…but the catch is that postage to the UK from Sicily will set you back an eye-watering €55.

Some Frustrations…

It feels slightly absurd that a number of Serie B teams do not have functional online stores. A couple of others (Virtus Entella and Cremonese) have attractive online deals with shirts available for as little as €25, but sadly do not offer an international shipping option. If you’re very keen it might be worth getting in touch with the club directly to see if they will arrange something for you.

A final word…

Some, but not all sites offer English translation, but don’t let that put you off. Most sites are fairly intuitive to navigate through and Google translate can be used to help you through any tricky bits.

As you will have noticed, shipping rates can prove a bit steep, making a bargain shirt somewhat less of a bargain. The best way around this is to spread the fixed postage cost across more than one shirt, for example, by clubbing together with a mate or using social media to find other interested buyers.

For the larger clubs, better deals might be found on other sites (e.g. Adidas and Nike).

That’s your roundup!
